Policeman shot dead in Kashmore

SUKKUR, Feb 28: An assistant sub-inspector at the Guddu police station was shot dead in Kashmore on Thursday.

ASI Abdul Rasheed Samoon was attacked by armed men riding a motorcycle at Murad Wah while he was on his way to his place of duty in the city.

He died on the spot and the assailants fled, the police said.

The body was handed over to the heirs after a postmortem examination at the Kashmore Taluka Hospital.

No FIR of the killing was registered till late Thursday.

Over 50 vehicles recovered Sukkur SSP Pir Mohammad Shah, along with ASP City Abdul Raheem Sheerazi, told a press conference here on Thursday at least nine suspects nominated in cases of heinous crimes were arrested and 51 cars and motorcycles were recovered during operations in several districts during the past six months.

The vehicles were handed over to their owners at the police headquarters.

He said that the arrested suspects included Bashir Langah (ring leader), Kaloo Mahar, Bakhshal Mirani, Nisar alias Charya Mahar, Hassan Ali Shah, Nawab Kori Memon, Aijaz Mirani, Ayaz Mirani and Pir Bukhsh Mirani who had been operating in certain localities within the city as well as the Bachal Shah, Sukkur Bypass, Barrage Colony, City Point, Circuit House Road and other areas.

They used to store the looted vehicles and other items in a huge compound located in the Bachal Shah area before disposing them of.

The police carried out operations in Sukkur, Larkana and Shikarpur districts.

The SSP said that surveillance cameras were being installed at all major roundabouts to check crime.
