15 suspects held in raids after bomb attack on Rangers vehicle

LA RKANA: Rangers and police personnel carried out joint raids at several places in Wara town of Larkana district on Sunday and picked up many suspects in connection with the twin blasts that occurred near a checkpost of the paramilitary force a day earlier.
One Rangers man was killed and five others were wounded when two bombs planted near the checkpost on Mirokhan Road near Waleed police station were detonated with a remote-controlled device as their vehicle passed by, according to police investigation.
The blasts also left 10 other people wounded.
Larkana DIG Abdullah Shaikh on Sunday confirmed that 15 suspects were picked in the joint raids, adding that police teams also carried out separate raids in Wara and Larkana city. `We are interrogating the detained suspects,` he said.
When asked if the police got any clue to the culprits, the DIG said: `We cannot share anything at this stage but hope for a breakthrough within a few days`. He said more raids would certainly be conducted.
The DIG also confirmed that a political worker, Abdul Hafeez Pirzado, currently kept in the Larkana central prison, was being interrogated in connection with the bomb attack.
Sources said that a strong contingent of Rangers and police carried out raids in Warahtown and picked up five suspects, Bashir Cholyani,AsadBuriro,HakimTunio,Mukhtiar Choylani and Sardar, for interrogation.
In the meantime, a Rangers man, Mohammed Aslam Siyal, lodged an FIR (8/2016) at the Waleed police station late on Saturday evening against four unidentified suspects under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, Explosives Act and Anti-Terrorism Act regarding the bomb attack targeting the Rangers vehicle.
Rally for policing powers to Rangers SUKKUR: Activists of Jamiat Ulema-iIslam-Fazl and National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony, who took out rallies and held demonstrations in Sukkur and Naushahro Feroze on Sunday to protest attack on Army and Rangers personnel in Karachi and Larkana, demanded giving policing powers to Rangers for entire Sindh.
In Sukkur, JUI-F took out a rally and held a demonstration at Abad Lakha area which was led by Maulana Ubedullah Bhutto, Shabaan Shaikh, Agha Haroon and others while the NPCIH took out a rally from Rohri to the Sukkur press club.
The committee leaders Nasrullah Soomro, Abdul Sattar Mirani and Irfan Ahmed who led the rally condemned both the terrorist attacks in Karachi and Larkana in strong words and demanded giving policing powers to Rangers for the entire Sindh so that theparamilitary force could eliminate terrorists from every nook and corner of the province.
In Naushahro Feroze, a large number of activists of the NPCIH demonstrated outside the press club against terrorist attacks on Army and Rangers personnel.
Hassan Ali Shah and Mohammad QasimJunejo who led the protest condemned terrorist attacks on Army and Rangers personnel and demanded policing powers for Rangers for the entire Sindh without further delay.
They expressed their sympathies for the bereaved families of the Army and Rangers jawans who fell in line of duty.
