Protest against transfers BUNER, Oct 31: Dozens of primary schoolteachers staged a sit-in in front of district secretariat and blocked the main Daggar-Mingora road for traffic against mass scale transfers and postings of teachers on what they called political grounds.

The teachers on the call of All Primary Teachers Association held a protest rally against the transfers and postings of over 45 primary schoolteachers in different localities of the teachers. The alleged that the transfer orders were made on political grounds and violation of merit which need revision.

The protesters holding placards and banners chanted slogans against the education authorities for their action. They alleged that the transfers were made on he dictations of Jamaati-Islami minister for Ushar and Zakat Habibur Rehman Khan.

Later, the teachers ended their protest after the administration cancelled the transfers order and decided issue a fresh list. Correspondent Training for officials PESHAWAR, Oct 31: The Refugees Affected and Hosting Programme (UNDP-RAHP funded by EU) of KP organised a two-day training workshop on `Conflict management` for government officials from various departments.

More than 15 government officials from various departments participated in the workshop held here at a hotel on Thursday. The basic objective of the workshop was to build the capacity of the officials of public sector institutions on the important subject of conflict management.

The director Pakistan Institute of Management (PIM), Mohammad Abid Hussain, as trainer during the workshop informed the participants about various types of conflict at the management level and explained the approaches and means through which conflict could be eliminated.

`The conflict is defined as disagreement between two or more parties, resulting from incompatibility of goals, interests, values, and perceptions,` Mr Hussain said.

At the end of the workshop, the government officials shared their views. They described the training workshop as very informative. -Bureau Report Youth gala PESHAWAR, Oct 31: Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on excise and taxation Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel has said that Islamia College is a historic educational institution that besides imparting quality education to its students is creating competitive skills among its students by arranging dif ferent extracurricular activities.

He expressed these views while addressing the centenary celebrations of Islamia College arranged by Islamian youth gala on Thursday. Vice-Chancellor Peshawar University Dr Rasool Jan was also present on the occasion.

Mian Jamsheduddin eulogised the efforts of Islamian youth gala in arranging different programmes and assured all-out support of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in holding such activities in the future.

Mian Jamsheduddin and Dr Rasool Jan also gave away cash prizes to the administration and members of Islamian Youth Gala for their contribution in holding the programmes. The prize winners included Zeeshan Khan Khalil, Umar Jamal and Ihsan Afridi. -Bureau Report Teachers` salaries stopped GHALANAI, Oct 31: The education department of Mohmand Agency on Thursday stopped the salaries of eight primary schoolteachers on dereliction of duty and also issued transfer orders of four teachers on disciplinary grounds.

Agency education officer Said Mohammad Khan paid surprise visits to 13 schools in Khwezai tehsil and found eight teachers absent from duty in these schools at Khwezai area. He was informed that the school remained closed for a long time while the teachers were reportedly getting salaries at their homes.

The education officer on the recommendations of the AAEO (assistant agency education officer) stopped the salaries of eight teachers and warned them that they should make themselves regular in performing their duty.

The AEO said that some teachers had also done irregularities in distribution of food items among the students, therefore, from Rs8,000 to Rs12,000 each were deducted from the salaries of about 10 such teachers. -Correspondent Malakand bar office-bearers BATKHELA, Oct 31: District and sessions judge Malakand Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan administered oath to the newly-elected office-bearers of District Bar Malakand at a function held here on Thursday.

The function was held at the bar room of the district courts. The district and sessions judge was the chief guest on the occasion. Addressing at the ceremony after administering the oath, the judge announced that Rs6.1mllion had been allocated for the construction of boundary wall to ensure security of the court premises, adding that work on the project would soon be started soon. He said to ensure transparency the committee of legal fraternity itself would supervise the construction work.

Apart from members of Malakand bar, the function was also attended by senior civil judge Malakand Mohammad Qasim and lawyers of Dargai bar.

Addressing on the occasion the newly-elected president of the bar, Shah Room Khan, said that the lawyers had always rendered sacrifices for supremacy of law and justice and will continue this mission in future. -Correspondent Specialist doctors in Fata PESHAWAR, Oct 31: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Thursday took serious note of lack of specialist doctors at agency headquarters hospitals in Fata.

He asked the concerned quarters to take special measures and ensure at least seven to eight specialties fully functioned in each hospital and make optimum utilisation of available resources possible.

Taking stock of the situation on the healthcare programme working parallel to the existing system in Fata at a high level meeting held at Governor`s House here, he said that vacancies in each healthcare institution needed to be filled to enable the respective people to avail the healthcare facilities within their respective areas.

The governor took keen interest in ratio of the population getting benefit from the programme and also desired that special measures were also required to promote awareness among the people both in respect of precautionary measures and the state of the available healthcare facilities. APP Ehtisab commission bill PESHAWAR, Oct 31: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that legislation on Ehtisab Commission and implementing it in letter and spirit was among the prime objectives of his government.

This law would make the government accountable as well and people could only be satisfied when they would see justice being done across the board.

He was chairing a meeting of the select committee on `The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtisab Commission Bill 2013` here on Thursday. The meeting took stock of the various recommendations of the participants, clause-wise reviewed the draft bill and took necessary decisions.

On this occasion rich tributes were paid to the provincial law minister Israrullah Gandapur, who was killed in a suicide attack, for his hard work in connection with chalking out the comprehensive draft of Ehtisab Commission Bill.APP
