LAHORE: Senate opposition leader Aitzaz Ahsan said on Monday former information minister Pervaiz Rasheed had been made a `scapegoat` to save those actually responsible for the publishing of a news story on a high-level security committee meeting.

The ruling PML-N had always been making a scapegoat the `weak` for its mistakes, PPP leader Barrister Ahsan said referring to the case of Senator Mushahidullah Khan who was also asked to resign from his office as climate change minister last year after he gave an interview to the BBC.

The former interior minister who is also a senior lawyer was talking to the media persons at Supreme Court`s Lahore registry where he had come to cast his vote in the annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

He said had the former information minister got the news held, he would have been grilled for this too.

He alleged the person actually involved in the news leak was more powerful than Mr Rasheed, adding that however, the government was not aware of him (the culprit) yet.
