Rana Sana...

2016-11-01
LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has ruled out governor`s rule in Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He was replying to a question about imposition of governor`s rule in KP during a press conference here on Monday.

`The federal government has no such plans. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wants to resolve this issue politically. The PML-N can form the government in the KP within a month but we will not do so.

However, he said, KP Chief Minister Pervaiz Khatak had violated his oath by `attacking` Islamabad with 2,500 people. He said the KP CM was sowing the seed of hatred by fanning provincialism, urging the people of the KP to hold him accountable for this act.

Sana denied the PTI`s claim that thousands of its workers had been arrested in Punjab.

`The Punjab Police has arrested 838 people so far across the province, including 208 from Lahore, 53 Sargodha, 39 Multan, 29 Gujrat and 39 from Faisalabad,` he said, adding the detained political workers would be treated well.

Rana Sanaullah said not a single road was blocked in Punjab.

`The people did not respond to the call of Imran Khan to reach Islamabad.

Now he should better call of f his Nov 2 protest plan in Islamabad.

Sanaullah further said the government had allowed Imran Khan to hold rallies for the last three years due to concerns for democracy and indicated that the detained workers might be released and containers removed provided Imran agreed to only hold a public meeting at a designated place in Islamabad.

The law minister criticised Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid for failing to gather people in Rawalpindi for his rally and escaping the arrest like a coward.

`Rashid has lowered the stature of a political worker as he should have gracefully courted arrest,` he said.

Replying to another question, Sanaullah said the PPP would never take a step in the current scenario that might harm democracy.
