LANDI KOTAL: Security forces claimed on Monday to have killed a suspected murderer of a polio worker in Jamrud a few days back.

Security officials said Noor Mohammad alias Nooray was killed during a search operation in Ghundi area.

They said the search operation was launched after the receipt of a tip-off about the presence of the suspect in the area. He resorted to firing at the security forces after he was asked to surrender, officials said and added that Nooray was killed in the crossfire.

Officials said Nooray was an activist of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Ababeel group and was wanted to security forces for his involvement in a number of terrorist activities alongside killing of a polio worker, Fazal Amin, on Oct 26 during a vaccination campaign in Sikandar Khel locality of Jamrud.

The forces also claimed to have arrested at least three suspects during the search operation and later shifted them to an unknown place for interrogation. — Correspondent
