PTCs asked to help improve quality of education in schools

KARAK: The ParentTeacher Councils (PTCs) have been asked to look beyond just overseeing the utilisation of conditional grants in schools and take active part in creating healthy environment in educational institutions to ensure quality education to students.

This was stated by assistant district officer education Faizullah Jan Khattak while addressing separate PTCs formation functions in Mithakhel Tarkha Koi and Sangthri areas here on Monday.

He expressed satisfaction over the interest shown by the local elders in formation of the PTCs. He said the overwhelming participation of local people in the process of PTCs formation would go a long way in betterment of education system. He briefed the PTC members about their functions and responsibilities.

Mr Khattak asked the heads of schools to take only those parents on the councils who had their children enrolled in respectiveschools. He urged the members of the councils to pinpoint the shortcomings in the schools so that corrective measures could be taken.

The education officer claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led provincial government was spending huge funds on provision of basic facilities to schools to improve educational environment.

BASIC FACILITIES DEMANDED: The local traders` association has demanded of the district government to provide basic facilities to the traders in the city markets.

Talking to reporters after a meeting of the body on Monday, a spokesman regretted that there was low gas pressure, no drinking water and encroachments in the bazaars. He said the traders had to purchase water.

The spokesman said owing to low gas pressure the businesses of bakers and hoteliers had been badly affected. He said the meeting also shown concern over encroachments in the city and assailed the TMA for failing to clear the city roads of encroachments.
