KOHAT: Police here on Wednesday booked six principals for lack of proper security arrangements at their schools.

A police statement issued here said that efforts had been launched again to ensure the safety of students and staff of educationalinstitutions.

Those who were booked included vice-principal of Regional Institute of Teachers` Education Mst Amna, and principals of Quaid Inter College Zakirur Rehman, Wahid Education Academy Haji Aurangzeb, Iqra Roza-e-Itfaal Mr Ijaz, government primary school, Sherpao colony, Shehzad Naeem, and government primary school, Ahmednagar, Mr Israfil.

When contacted, Private Schools Association, Kohat, president Rab Nawaz said that the police asked the principals to get bail before arrest and ensure making foolproof arrangements within a fortnight to avoid arrest. However, he criticised the harassment of the school management and demanded help from the government as most of the schools could not afford to make the prescribed costly security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the private schools associations while opposing the class 5th board examinations criticised the authorities for issuing them show cause notices. Speaking at a joint press conference here, Rab Nawaz and Abdul Jalil, the president of Karak association, said that the efforts to gag their voice would force them to come on roads.

They threatened that if the government did not take back its decision the private institutions would be forced to start strike.
