LANDI KOTAL: The political administration arrested nine shopkeepers in Landi Kotal on Tuesday for violating official pricelist during the holy month of Ramazan.

Officials said that they had already formed a three-member price control committee, which was regularly monitoring prices of daily use commodities in the local bazaar.

They said that action was initiated against profiteers.

Officials said that they arrested a milk seller, six fruit and vegetable vendors and two poultry dealers on the complaints of local consumers. The arrested traders were overcharging consumers, they added.

Officials said that the two poultry dealers were accused of selling slaughtered chickens without any slaughter certificate.

Meanwhile, the residents of Jamrud alleged that shop-keepers were not following properly the official pricelist.

The administration failed to take any action against the hoarders and profiteers, they alleged.

BLAST: The house of a local businessman was partially damaged in a bomb blast in Jamrud on the night between Monday and Tuesday.

Officials said that unidentified persons planted an explosive device at the main gate of the house of Haji Walat Khan in Ghundi area that went off at midnight.

The blast uprooted the main gate and caused damage to a portion of the house.

However, the inmates of the house remained unhurt in the blast.

Officials said that a group of extortionists was behind the blast as it was targeting local traders and businessmen to extort huge amounts from them. The administration has registered a case against unidentified extortionists and started investigations.
