HYDERABAD: Jamaat-iIslami secretary-general Liaquat Baloch has said that Pakistan cannot afford another military adventure.

`The army is engaged in Karachi, Fata, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan whereas one million internally displaces persons are facing tough times. This is the result of wrong politics,` he said while speaking at the party`s annual Eid Milan party in Latifabad on Thursday night.

JI provincial chief Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui, Hyderabad chief Sheikh Shaukat Ali, Hizbul Mujahideen deputy secretary-general Javed Ali Qasoori and others also spoke at the function.

The JI leader cautioned the army not to resort to any adventure to derail democracy.

`If democracy was derailed, it will be difficult to keep Pakistan intact,` he said.

He observed that every political party had the right to hold its activities but, at the moment, all opposition parties were not on the same page.

Mr Baloch said that the `Sharif-Zardari alliance` wasonce again causing a crisis, and stressed that the government and the opposition must restrict themselves to their respective domains.

He said JI Amir Sirajul Haq would present `people`s agenda` on Aug 4 in Islamabad and a rally would be be held there on Aug 10 to condemn the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had formed its government with a massive majority but first year of its governance produce d multiple political crises with some raising slogans of `revolution` and others of `tsunami` leaving the nation in a total mess.

He severely criticised increase ofloadsheddingand prices and observed that billions were being spent on advertisement campaigns but the energy crisis continued to deepen.

The JI leader noted that there was a conflict between vital institutions of the country, which he said was currently at a crossroads. He reminded the federal government of its responsibility to stop the conflict. The judiciary should keep working independently and there has to be an independent election commission.
