Spelling Bee regional contest ends in Skardu

SKARDU: The two-day Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition concluded here at a local hotel on Thursday.

Over 150 students from 28 different private and government schools of Skardu and Ghanche district took part in this competition.

This year schools from Gilgit also participated for the first time in the Spelling Bee contest.

Nasreen Zahra of Public School and College, Skardu, Huma Shahid of Public School and College, Sadpara, and Syed Mehdi of Grace English Access Micro Scholarship School, Skardu, secured first, second and third position, respectively, in the age group of 15 to 17 years in the regional championship of Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition.

On Wednesday, Tuffah Tahir, Maryam and Mohammad Ali Ayan of Peperdine School for Advanced Studies had obtained first, second and third position, respectively, in the age group of 12 to 14 years.

In age group of 9 to 11 years, Sara Ali and Samra of Fatima Public School and College, Sadpara, and Shahzad Ali of Peperdine School for Advanced Studies were declared first, second and third, respectively. The competition was witnessed by Skardu SSP Umer Salamat, government officials, notables of the city, teachers, parents and students.-Correspondent
