PESHAWAR, Dec 1: The house of a former union council nazim was damaged in a blast in Bala Bani area here on Sunday morning.
An of ficial of Bala Mani police station said that an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted outside the house of Yousaf Khan, the former nazim of Bala Mani union council, that went off at about 4:30am without anyone. However, a portion of the house was damaged in the blast, he added.The official said that Yousaf Khan avoided nominating anyone in the case.
There were reports that some unidentified people demanded extortion from him but he refused to pay them the amount, sources said.
The official said that the explosive device weighed about one kilogram. It was a time devise, he said, adding that a case against unidentified terrorists was registered at the police station.
The former nazim could not be approached by telephone for comments.
