Nawaz failed to stop drone attacks: PTI

PESHAWAR, Dec 1: Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif failed to stop the US drone attacks despite making promises with the people during the election campaign, said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf spokesperson Ishtiaq Urmer here on Sunday.

Addressing the workers of PTI and its allied parties at Hayatabad where they had blocked road to stop Nato supplies to Afghanistan, he said that the struggle against the drone attacks would continue under the leadership of Imran Khan till achieving its objectives.

According to a press release, the workers of PTI, Jamaat-iIslami and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad turned up at the protest camps established at five points in four districts to record their protest against the US drone strikes.

The workers of the ruling parties vowed to continue their campaign till complete halt to drone strikes in Federally Administered Tribal Areas and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

They also checked documents of the vehicles supplying commercial goods to Afghanistan and sent back a container loaded with luggage destined for Nato forces in the neighbouring country.

The PTI spokesperson said that the provincial government would hold a big demonstration outside National Assembly in Islamabad on December 5.

The chief minister and speaker of provincial assembly would present a memorandum to the members of National Assembly about the violation of its land by the US drone strikes, he said.

Mr Urmar said that the federal government would be asked to stop Nato supplies as mark of protest against the unlawful drone attacks in which innocent civilians, including women and children were killed.

He said that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif failed to stop the US drone attacks despite making promises with the people during the election campaign. He said that the struggle under the leadership of Imran Khan would continue till achieving its objectives.

Mr Urmar said that PTI and its allies in the provincial government were determined to safeguard the lives of the people against the US strikes. He said that nobody would be allowed to resort to unlawful killing of the dwellers of the country.

The PTI spokesperson said that workers were high spirits as they hadn`t allowed any Nato vehicle since launch of the campaign but facilitated the commercial supplies that were meant for people of Afghanistan.

The press release said that the protesting workers of the ruling parties chanted slogans against the USA and asked it to halt drone attacks immediately.
