2015-01-03
ISLAMABAD: It has been the left-wing student groups that produced individuals who organised various sections of the society against the status quo and provided the basis for movements to bring progressive transformation in the society.

President Awami Worl(ers Party (AWP) Punjab Professor Aasim Sajjad said this while speaking at a meeting, `Three signs of revolution: Students, Labours and Farmers` organised by the party and National Students Federation (NSF) on Friday.

Prof Sajjad said restrictions on student groups and leftwing politics had led to intolerance in the society.

`I do not see student politics separate from the society and only a genuinely progressive student movement can bring real socio-economic change in the country,` he added.

General Secretary of NSF-Punjab Ali Raza said because of social and economic differences, the society had been moving towards destruction. A Reporter
