LAHORE: The Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department has notified the appointment of three deputy commissioners (DCs) and eight assistant commissioners (ACs) as administrators in their district councils and municipal committees in the absence of mayors and chairmen.

The administrators were appointed on the instructions of the Punjab governor. The Election Commission of Pakistan had shared a list of district councils and municipal committees, where either elections for the mayor and chairmen were not held or results not shared with the commission.

The deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi, Nankana Sahib and Khushab have been appointed as administrators of district councils in their districts.

Similarly, the assistant commissioners of Murree, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Syedan, Khanpur, Hazro, Taunsa Sharif, Shakargarh and Chichawatni have been appointed as administrators of municipal committees in their jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi local government assistant director has been appointed administrator of 17 union councils in Rawalpindi, Kotli Sattian, Kahuta and Kallar Syedan tehsils as well as Municipal Corporation of Murree.

These administrators will be removed, when the mayors and chairmen assume their charge.

VEHICLES: It is learnt the 11 mayors minus the Lahore mayor will get Fortuner jeeps for their official use. The government has yet not decided about giving vehicles to district government chairmen.

The chief minister himself interviewed candidates for their postings as chief officer and chief corporation officer.
