Strong evidence against Maryam in Panama case`

By Our Staff Reporter 2017-01-03
LAHORE: Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid says a `just` verdict in Panama case can check the `invasion of adventurers` forever in the local politics.

He was speaking at a press conference here on Monday.

He claimed that he had submit-ted strong evidence against Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in the Mafair flats case.

He asserted Panama case would reach its logical conclusion during the ongoing month provided the Supreme Court asked Ms Sharif whether she was a trustee or beneficiary of the Mayfair flats.

Reposing his trust in the CJ, Supreme Court and the five-judgebench seized with the Panama case, he said his party would accept the adjudication of the bench.

He pledged to move court, besides holding protest on roads, to seek accountability of corrupt politicians.

He said if the big fish were not penalised for corruption, all prisoners except those involved in murder, abduction and rape cases would have to be set free for pro-viding a `level playing field` to all the corrupt.

Responding to a query, he said had Bilawal been given a free hand the PPP could have shown better results in the next polls, but Asif Zardari had overshadowed his son.

He also opposed plea bargain provision in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law.
