Six labourers gunned down in Orakzai

KALAYA: Gunmen killed six labourers in Orakzai Agency on Sunday.

Sources said the assailants forced their way into temporary residence of the labourers in Shogran Kallay, in Ferozekhel area of the agency, and shot them dead.The victims belonged to the Khyber Agency.

Four of the labourers, Watan Khan, Khan Zamir, Farhan and Moeen Khan, belonged to the Zakhakhel tribe and the other two, Shanagay Khan and Ferozekhel, to the Malikdinkhel tribe.

Officials of the local administration rushed to the crime scene after the incident and took thebodies to the agency headquarters hospital in Kalaya.

It also launched a crackdown against members of the Ferozekhel tribe and arrested 12 tribesmen under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

The administration also placed under suspension all the incentives and privileges granted to theFerozekhel tribe, including issuance of domicile certificates, national identity cards and passports, and said the same would remain suspended unless the tribe handed over the killers to the government.

Elders of the Ferozekhel tribe have convened a jirga on Monday (today) in Jaleeka Mela area to review the situation.
