Uplift schemes approved for Karak area

KARAK: The authorities have approved establishment of a middle school, a dispensary, water supply scheme and two megawatts powerhouse in Shnawa Guddikhel union of the district.

In this connection, a meeting was held between the elders of the areas including Malik Yousaf Khan, Malik Hayat, Malik Shaukat and Malik Musharraf and officials of Atomic Energy Commission of Pakistan in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Jadoon that approved the projects.

The officials of the commission informed the meeting that development projects would be executed in the area through social sector funds. They said that water of 13 tubewells was tested and there was no ratio of any ingredient in it that caused cancer.

The officials claimed that 90 per cent employment opportunities would be provided to the local people. They added that landowners would be compensated soon.

The local elders said that basic amenities should be provided to the residents of the backward union council.

DEMAND: The local chapter of Paramedic Association has demanded of the authorities to promote them to BPS-12 and implement the service structure, devised for the paramedics during the MMA government in the province.

Addressing a meeting here on Thursday, district general secretary of the association Imtiaz Khattak said that government promoted primary schoolteachers from BPS-7 to BPS15 but ignored the paramedics.

He said that paramedics were playing vital role in providing health services to people. He said that they would go on strike if government ignored their demands. Mr Khattak said that they should be provided with job security by improving their scales. He said that government didn`t pay any heed to their genuine demands.

He said that paramedics` colony and school should be constructed near the district headquarters hospital to provide residential facility to them.

ENROLMENT: Coordinated efforts were needed for enhancement of enrolment in schools of the district, said Assistant District Of ficer (Education) Faizullah Jan Khattak.

Addressing a meeting of head teachers here on Thursday, he said that the role of parent-teacher council should be reevaluated. He said that without proper coordination between schools and PTC, the goal of better enrolment could not be achieved.

The official said that enrolment campaign would be launched to bring maximum out of school children to schools.

He asked the head teachers to utilise the conditional grant with honesty. He added verification of the utilisation of funds would be made.
