RAWALPINDI: A food inspector of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) was suspended on the charge of taking bribe from the owners of food outlets.

`The traders of Saddar lodged a complaint against Food Inspector Ghulam Rasool Satti for getting bribe during checking of the outlets. The initial inquiry found the official guilty, RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Fahim Zafar Khan told Dawn on Friday.

He said the food inspector had been suspended and a departmental inquiry launched against him.

He said the RCB would launch a campaign in the cantonment areas to check the food outlets from Monday.

Action would be taken against those found selling unhygienic and substandard food items.

Mr Khan said a special team had been formed to verify the working of the food inspection branch.

If any official was involved in malpractice, departmental action would take against them, he added. -A Reporter
