LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition against the bail granted to a woman, who had knocked down three men to save her life during a violent protest outside Yohannabad.

A Christian community leader, Hameed Masih, questioned the ball granted to Maryam Safdar pleading that the trial court released the woman on ball without deciding the question of the suspect`s motive behind her reckless driving and killing of three protesters. He asked the court to set aside the bail order of the trial court.

However, the investigating officer told the court that the suspect sped up her car to save her life as the protesters were harassing her and damaging her vehicle. He said it was a case of self defence.

Relying on the police report, the court dismissed the petition and upheld the trial court order.
