Wrong map: court moved for case against CM

2015-07-03
LAHORE: A sessions court on Thursday issued a notice to the capital city police officer (CCPO) on a petition seeking registration of a case against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others for publication of ‘wrong map’ of Pakistan in Class-VIII geography book.

Advocate Rizwan Haider filed the petition and told the court that he had submitted an application to the CCPO for registration of a case against the chief minister and other authorities of the school education department for publishing a wrong map of the country in text books of Class-VIII.

He stated that the CCPO refused to entertain the application while the offence committed by authorities was of serious nature and amounted to misguiding and spoiling the innocent minds of new generation.

He said the map published in geography books showed Saraikistan and Hazara as two separate provinces which was a gross violation of the Constitution.

He asked the court to direct the CCPO to lodge an FIR against the respondents.

The court sought a reply from the CCPO by July 7.—Staff Reporter
