72 teachers suspended

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government on Thursday placed 72 primary and junior teachers under suspension for showing zero per cent results in grade five and eight exams 2014-15 held under the District Elementary Board of Poonch.

According to a notification, Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Raja Mohammad Abbas also ordered disciplinary action against the suspended teachers -24maleand48female-undertheRemoval from Service (Special Powers) Act 2001.

Sardar Mohammad Irshad Khan, the principal Elementary College for MenRawalakot, and Nazira Begum, the principal Elementary College for Women, Rawalakot, were appointed inquiry officers for the male and female teachers respectively. The inquiry officers shall present their reports to the secretary within two weeks.

It may be recalled that last week 21 teachers in district Bagh were also suspended d for the same reason.

Secretary Abbas told Dawn that the process would be stretched to all other districts after receipt of reports regarding the performance of teachers in the elementary board exams.Correspondent
