Vocational schools to be set up

ISLAMABAD: The ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training has decided to establish vocational and technical schools in the federal capital.

The decision was taken at the National Education Foundation`s Board of Governors meeting, chaired by State Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehaman.

A spokesperson for the ministry said that it was decided in the meeting that one or two vocational schools would be established this year with the capacity of up to 150 students as part of a pilot project. And later, more such schools would be set up.

`Drop outs, underprivileged and those who wishing to learn technical skills would be admitted to these schools,` the official statement said.

The National Education Foundation and the Ministry of Federal Education would be jointly funding and monitoring these schools.

The meeting discussed various agenda items and took several decision, such as increasing honorarium fortheteachersof42schools of the NEF from Rs2000 to Rs 5000.

Themeetingalsoapproved the formation of the two committeesan executive and a financialcommittee.

The meeting also approved a budget of 20142015 and it was decided that the financial committee would prepare the budget of 2015-2016 and have it approved by the BOGs.
