Censor board chief ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought reply from the prime minister secretariat and secretary establishment, finance and national regulations and services division on a petition filed against the extension in the service of chairman censor board.

Chaudhry challenged the appointment of Malik Shahnawaz Noon as chairman central board of film censors (CBFC).

Advocate Chaudhry told the court that the prime minister ordered for the extension in the service of Mr Noon, despite the fact that he did not fulfil the prescribed requirements for the post of chairman CBFC.

He alleged that the respondents appointed him against the rules and regulations and without advertising the post in newspapers.-A Reporter 10 outlaws arrested ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: The capital police arrested 10 outlaws from different parts of the city and recovered narcotics, weapons, liquor and other items from their possession, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

According to details, the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), arrested a drug peddler and recovered hashish weighing two kilograms from him.

Likewise, the Aabpara police intercepted a man on suspicion and during his search recovered hashish weighing 360 grams.

Similarly, the Kohsar police recovered two bottles of wine from a man which led to his arrest.

The Margalla police, during an investigation of a case, arrested a thief and recovered stolen items worth Rs35,000 from him.

The Tarnol police also arrested four, allegedly involved in theft. The Kohsar police intercepted two persons on suspicion and during their search recovered two 30-bore pistols from them. Staff Reporter Dist govt gets foggers RAWALPINDI, Aug 2: The Punjab government has provided 70 shoulder mounted foggers devices that typically create a mist containing insecticide and three vehiclemounted foggers to the health department to speed up the dispersion of anti-Dengue medicine in the district before dengue season begins.

District Officer Health (Urban Areas) Dr Ansar Ishaq told Dawn that the health department had received 70 shoulder mounted foggers and three vehicle mounted foggers, of them it handed over 30 shoulder mounted foggers and three vehicle mounted foggers to the district.

He said that the health department had started the indoor residual spraying (IRS) campaign in the 46 union councils of the city, and the next phase for outdoor spray would begin after Eidul Fitr.

He said that the IRS campaign formed twelve teams to prevent an outbreak of dengue fever, and started their work in areas where cases of dengue were reported last year.

Dr Ishaq also stated that the health department had formed special teams that would check the quality of food items in the market and conduct raids on a daily basis A Reporter Car `kidnapped` for `ransom` ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: A man stole the car of real estate developer, Malik Riaz`s sister from the capital and demanded ransom for it but was later arrested by the police, Dawn has learnt.

The police said that Mailk Riaz`s sister Naz Malik employed a driver a week ago, but he was not verified from the police. Besides, the employer also did not get the CNIC`s copy from him.

On Wednesday, the driver dropped Ms Malik at her residence at F-7/2. Later she observed that the driver was missing, along with the Toyota Corolla car from the house.

Later her husband Chaudhry Saleem received a call from the driver who demanded Rs1 million against the car.

The police were informed, who traced the location of the driver in Peshawar.

The police asked the family to entice the driver to Islamabad, after negotiations over the amount. In response, the family agreed to pay Rs220,000 for the car.

Later, the driver brought back the car from Peshawar and reached the designated spot where the exchange was supposed to take place.

However, police from Kohsar police station were already present at the spot waiting for the driver and arrested him, upon his arrival. Staff Reporter Urdu-Russian dictionary ISLAMABAD, Aug 2: Urdu-Russian dictionary was formally launched with the collaboration of Pakistan Academy of Sciences and National Language Authority.

The dictionary was compiled by Tashmirza Khalmirzaev, ex-diplomat and a literary person.

The ceremony was attended by senior and junior diplomats of former soviet states, literary and well-known personalities from different spheres of life.

In his speech, Mr Tashmirza revealed that he struggled for the compilation of this dictionary for a long time. He tried to publish it in Russia but he got no support and it was not possible for him to publish it.

He appreciated the role, support and assistance of National Language Authority and Pakistan Science Academy who made it possible to compile and publish the dictionary.

He said that the dictionary will not only be helpful for the community, who know the Russian language like the members of Association of Pakistani Graduates from Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States as he named them but also will be helpful for general public interested to learn Russian or the Urdu language.
