Seminaries survey by police to be completed within 15 days

KARACHI: The police authorities on Sunday decided to complete a `fresh survey` of seminaries within 15 days.

This survey was being carried out to ensure availability of accurate and comprehensive data about registered and unregistered seminaries in the province along with other relevant information, sources said.

The decision to accelerate the pace of the survey was taken in a meeting chaired by Sindh IGP Ghulam Haider Jamali.

The meeting participants reviewed the progress by police on implementation of the National Action Plan.

It was told in the meeting that a fresh exercise was being undertaken to collect comprehensive details about seminaries in the province in accordance with the queries highlighted in recently prepared pro forma by the special branch (SB).

The additional IG of special branch stated that as soon as the survey process would be completed, the obtained details would be shared with the police on operational duties.

He said that SB was also conducting the exercise of geotagging of seminaries which would be completed within a month.

The IGP Sindh directed the AIG of logistics to ensure that all required resources were provided to the SB for early completion of geotagging.

He stressed the need for strict monitoring of hate speeches, distribution of hate material and wall chalking and directed officers to arrest and register cases against all those involve d under relevant laws pursuing the provisions of the NAP.

He also sought lists of activists of proscribed organisations presently on bail.

The meeting was attended by the additional IG of special branch and Karachi, the DIGs of headquarters and the zonal DIGs of Karachi and the AIGs of operations and logistics.
