Five medical, dental clinics sealed in Wah

TAXILA: The health department officials sealed five medical and dental clinics in Wah being run by quacks in a poor hygienic condition.

Deputy drugs controller Malik Arshad in collaboration with assistant commissioner Shahid Imran raided various clinics in different localities of Wah Cantonment and found the majority of them being run by quacks, who were openly selling banned drugs to the patients.

The teams were stunned to see that the clinics had nameplates of different qualified doctors and specialists but inside the rooms quacks were sitting treating patients and prescribing medicines.

The team also paid surprise visits to the various dental clinics in the area and found most of them in a shabby and unhygienic condition and being run by technicians instead of qualified BDS doctors, and the tools they were using were not only obsolete but unsterilised.

The team sealed Ali hospital, Ayaz hospital, Shah dental clinic, Iqbal hospital and Khalid clinic.

Deputy drugs controller Malik Arshad while talking to newsmen said although the clinics had nameplates of qualified physicians and specialists, they were being run by quacks and unqualified staff.

He said that Hakeems clinics in the area were also sealed under Section 18 of Drugs Act and cases had been initiated against them as per law. Correspondent
