Firing at PTI UC candidate office

By A Reporter 2015-10-03
LAHORE: Gunmen fired several shots on Friday outside the election office of the Pakistan Tehreelei-Insaf candidate in Union Council 69 in the Mozang area and fled.

The firing left holes in the shutter of the property and windowpanes shattered.

Irfan, who is contesting for councilor, told reporters that two motorcyclists opened firing at the visitor at his election office in a driveby attack and fled.

He said luckily no one was hurt, but firing left the glass of his office broken. He alleged his political opponents had attacked his office to prevent him from contesting the election.

Mozang police, however, initially ruled out the possibility of any political rivalry in the shooting, saying Muhammad Irfan, of Kot Abdul Shah, was a property dealer and had a land dispute with his neighbours.

Mozang SHO Javaid Iqbal said preliminary investigation showed that Irfan had a dispute with his neighbours Salman and Zain over propert y matters.
