Teachers ask CADD to revise notifications

By A Reporter 2015-11-03
ISLAMABAD: Some teachers have rejected noticesfor theirpromotion and have asked the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) to issue revised notices.

The teachers are of the view that the revised notices will bring their promotions into effect from the date that the departmental selection board meeting held in this regard.

The 43 college teachers received notices on October 27, 2015, informing them that they had been promoted from BPS 18 to 19 with immediate effect.

However, the teachers maintain that their promotions should be with effect from July 1, 2015 when the selection board decided on the matter.

One of the teachers said they had been waiting for their promotions for some time, but were surprised to see the date on the notices.

The teacher said: `The noticesaid all assistant professors will be promoted as associate professors, but not from the date the Departmental Selection Board decided to do so.

`This will deprive us of the pay benefits we would otherwise have gotten.

The teacher said if he joined as an associate professor, he will lose on four months` pay as a BPS-19 officer and added that traditionally, promotion notifications were effective from the date of the departmental selection board meetings.

The newly-elected president of Federal Government College Teachers Association, Prof Manzar Zafar Kazmi, said the association will be taking up the matter with secretary Capital Administration and Development Division.

Secretary Capital Administration and Development Division Khalid Hanif, however, defended the decision and maintained that according to the rules, the notifications will be effective from when they were issued.
