Computer labs being set up in Swat schools

MINGORA: Girl students and their teachers here have appreciated the initiative of a local councillor to set up computer labs in the schools.

At the inaugural ceremony, Nasim Akhtar asked the girl students to work hard for the better future of the country. She said that it was the age of modern technology and Pakistan was lagging behind in the field.

`We need to work hard to join the developed nations. This is why I have decided to establish computer labs in the schools here,` she said.

The woman councillor said that several schools would be equipped with computer labs and hand pumps for drinking water would also be installed there, if required.

Students of the schoolappreciated the establishment of computer lab and said they were excited to see computers in their school.

`It was my dream to worl< on computer and at last my dream will come true after the establishment of the lab in our school, said Sidra Ahmad, a student of grade-5. Teachers of the school thanked Nasim Akhtar for establishment of the computer lab.

LIQOUR SEIZED: Mingora police seized a big cache of liguor in a raid here on Wednesday.

According to DSP city Habibullah Khan, following a tip-off, the police seized as many as 300 litres of liquor from a house located at Rang Mohallah area of Mingora city. He said that SHO Amjad Khan conducted the raid and also arrested the alleged dealer, Abubakar Siddique, from his house.

He said that 500 grams of opium was also confiscated during the raid. He said that the city police would continue its campaign against anti-socialelements.
