Vintage car rally reaches Peshawar tomorrow

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar city is all set to accord a warm welcome to the participants of spectacular Karachi to Khyber Vintage Car Rally, reaching here on Friday.

The Vintage & Classic Car Club of Pakistan has organised the rally that rolled out in Karachi on Nov 24. It would reach Peshawar for a night stay on Friday, said a press release issued here on Wednesday by the Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP).

The entertainment-starved Peshawarites would be quite impressed and excited to have a closer look at the world`s oldest and classic cars when they arrive at the city and be put on display on Saturday (December 5) at the Garrison Club.

According to the itinerary, around 25 classic cars will arrive from Karachi while 20 other cars will join them from Islamabad and 20 to 25 cars from Peshawar.

Some 100 vintage and classic cars purchased and manufactured between 1920-1970 would be displayed at the event.

In Peshawar, the rally is being hosted by Asim Durrani of the Classic Land Rover and sponsored by the TCKP. This is the fifth time the iconic vehicles are making it to Peshawar.

The classic and oldest cars that are participating in the rally include Hupmobile (1929), Rolls-Royce (1938), Rolls Royce Silver Wraith (1939), MG TD (1950), Humber Hawk (1957), Ford Thunderbird (1960), Ford Mustang (1964), Austin Mini (1967), Alfa Romeo, Mercedes 108s, MGB and MG Midget, Austin-Healey, MGA Roadster, Chevrolet Corvette (1982), Peugeot 404, Mini Clubman 1275GT and others.

The rally will wrap up in the provincial capital to bid adieu to the current year`s quota of entertainment.-Bureau Report
