PESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen on Friday shot dead a taxi driver in Badhber area on the outskirts of the provincial capital here on Friday.

A complainant, Mohammad Ali, brother of the deceased, Mohammad Zaman, told police that his brother was killed by unidentified people while he was on way to Peshawar. He said the gunmen also took his taxi away.

Mr Ali said that his family had no enmity with anyone.

`We have registered a murder case against unidentified accused and investigating the case but so far there is no progress,` said a police official.

Meanwhile, in another case, unidentified car lifters took away a car of DSP Hayatabad, Fazal Wahid Khan, from a parking lot on Arbab Road in Saddar Bazaar on Friday morning. An official of West Cantonment police station said that the vehicle also had a wireless set in it.

`We have informed the personnel of different police stations and that the vehicle will soon be recovered,` the official said.
