TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir elementary and secondary education department on Saturday announced a security plan for all the government schools in the district.

According to an official circular issued by the district education officer, male, Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim, CCTV cameras would be installed at allthe schools.It said that no one would be allowed to park any vehicle inside the school building during the classes.

According to the circular, the main gate of the schools would remain closed and watchmen would remain at the entrance points during the school hours.

Moreover, the schools` heads have been asked to immediately inform police if they noticed any suspicious activity. They were also warned of disciplinary action in case they were found not following the government instructions.

APCA ELECTION: The All Pakistan Clerks Association, Lower Dir chapter, on Saturday named ofHce bearers for the next term, electing Mohammad Shair Tajak as president and Mohammad Salim as general secretary, respectively.

According to a notification, Mr Shair was elected president for the sixth consecutive term, while Sihat Jan was named senior vicepresident, Haleemullah vice-president, Mohammad Ismail deputy general secretary, Pervez Khan press secretary, Ajmeer Shah finance secretary and Mohammad Salim information secretary, respectively.

JI DEMAND: The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islamion Saturday demanded that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and the IGP post an honest official as the district police officer.

Speaking at a news conference at the Timergara Press Club, JI information secretary Malik Sher Bahadar alleged that the former district police officer had failed to curb robberies and bring positive change in the `thana` culture in Lower Dir.

He said as Lower Dir was situated on the Pak-Afghan border, it needed devoted and hard working police officers to curb crime and cross-border movement of suspe cte d pe ople. He allege d that street crimes especially robberies had increased in the district.

F U N C T I O N S ORGANISED: The local people and activists of civil society on Saturday organised different events to express solidarity with the families of the victims of terrorism.

A function was organised at the police lines, where people placed floral wreaths at the site of a bomb blast, and offered Fateha for the victims.

A solidarity walk was also organised from the blast site to the National Bank chowk, with participants carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against terrorism and for peace.

Functions were also held at the hujra of the student, Shahbaz, at Ouch, who died during the terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar. Similarly, a function was organised at the press club, where citizens remembered the journalists who died in the line of duty.

People also went to the Yadgar-i-Shuhada, lit candles there and offere d Fateha for the departed souls.
