LANDI KOTAL: Seven shops were panially damaged when a timed device went off at a mobile phones market in Landi Kotal after Friday prayers.

Officials said a mild intensity explosive device was planted in the recently reopened mobile phones market which went off at around 2.45pm. They said most of the shops were closed at the time of the explosion as Friday is observed a half holiday in Landi Kotal`s main bazaar.

The khasadar and Levies men along with Khyber Rifles personnel cordoned off the entire bazaar immediately after the explosion.

Security forces removed all the vehicles from the bazaar while the heavy traffic was also divened to alternate routes.

It was the second blast in the market as a major portion of it was destroyed in a powerful explosion in 2010.

Meanwhile, four persons were injured in a road accident in Jamrud on Friday.

Khasadar officials said the accident took place near the main bazaar when a speeding pickup collided with a van.

The injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.

Also in the day, the political administration in Jamrud arrested at least 11 suspected tribesmen and impounded 60 motorcycles during a search and cordon operation after the killing of an FC official on Wednesday night.-Correspondent
