RAWALPINDI: Despite tall claims of improvement, this year too the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Rawalpindi has failed to issue error free date and attendance sheets of intermediate examinations.

Glaring mistakes are found in attendance sheets (SS-15) published by the board as board mentioned fathers names in the column reserved for students and students names in the column reserved for father.

A reliable source in the board told Dawn that more than 100 students of Gordon College, Rawalpindi have been marking their attendance in a faulty sheet since the beginning of the examination on April 30.

Talking to Dawn, a senior teacher of Gordon College, on the condition of anonymity, said on Saturday that the college had taken up the issue with the board chairman, who assured that issue would be resolved. However, so far no new attendance sheet had been sent.`Due to blunders made by the board, our students are in extreme mental stress, and instead of focusing on their examinations, they are worried about their futures,` he said.

On the other hand, the BISE chairman, Dr Mohamamd Zareef, said the issue had been resolved. He said: `When the matter was brought to my notice on Saturday I send an officer to Gordon College who resolved the issue.

Earlier, the board issued faulty date sheet to hundreds of students, mixing the dates of Urdu and Chemistry papers.

Meanwhile, a spokesman of BISE Rawlapindi claimed that all examination related issues had been resolved.

He, however, said for the facilitation of candidates appearing in the examination, the board office would remain open on Sunday. `If students face any problem pertaining to examination they may visit to the board on Sunday. While, they (students) could also check their roll number slips by sending SMS at 800296,` he said.

This year, 116,417 candidates are appearing in examinations at 177 examination centres.
