Students throng DAWN Education Fair in Quetta

QUETTA: A large number of students, including girls, thronged the DAWN Education Fair here on Wednesday, the first day of the two-day event.

The event, organised by the Dawn Media Group in a hotel, is aimed at introducing prestigious higher education institutions in the country and abroad to students of Balochistan.

Hundreds of students of colleges and universities in Quetta and other parts of the province visited different stalls set up at the fair. They were seen obtaining information about opportunities of higher education, scholarships and admission procedures from representatives of universities.

The first student who reached the fair at around 8am was a matric student from Mastung. He asked representatives of universities questionsabouthighereducation.

`This is the first event of its kind in Quetta which will help students to plan their future, Ayesha Humayun, an enthusiastic student of a local university, said. `More events of this sort should be held in the city.` The institutions which have set up stalls in the fair include the Lahore University of Medical Sciences, Institute of Business Administration, Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, British Council, Iqra University and Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences. Representatives of the Peace Forum and FM-105 were also present.
