ISLAMABAD: The academic session at the schools and colleges of the federal capital ends tomorrow (Friday) with summer holidays being observed from June 6 to August 9.

“I have directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to issue a notification for the summer vacation starting from June 6,” said Secretary CADD Khalid Hanif. The Ministry of Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) is looking after the affairs of FDE.

Schools and colleges will reopen on August 10 (Monday) for the next educational term. Earlier, FDE had announced summer holidays from June 11 to August 10, 2015 as inter-provincial games were scheduled to be held from June 9 to 12 which were to be attended by 15,000 students.

However, due to various reasons the sports board decided to cancel the games. “Since the games have been cancelled, we have decided to change our schedule and the summer break will start from June 6 according to the educational calendar,” the secretary said.

Meanwhile, a senior FDE official told Dawn that a notification has been issued, which will be distributed on Thursday, informing administrators of schools and colleges about summer vacation from June 6.
