Rs25.5bn schemes approved

LAHORE: Upgrading of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore, establishment of Government General Hospital at Chak No 224-RB of Faisalabad and expansion of150-bed new block at Children Hospital Complex, Multan, were among the 30 development schemes approved by the Punjab Provincial Development Working Party on Wednesday with an estimated cost of Rs 25,457.807 million (Rs25.5 billion).

Presided over by Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman Irfan Elahi, the 47th meeting of the PDWP for fiscal 2014-15 accorded approval to third-party evaluation of Literacy Projects (PC-II) at the cost of Rs17.80m; feasibility study for installation of Cable Cars Murree (Phase-I) (revised) (PC-II) at the cost of Rs227.846m; improvement of Jhal Khanuana Chowk Faisalabad (revised) worth Rs2,533.797m; establishment of Government General Hospital Haseeb Shaheed Park at Chal< No 224/RB, Faisalabad to the tune of Rs1,516.628 m,upgradationofDistrict Headquarters Hospital Toba Tek Singh at the cost of Rs451.329m; establishment of New Campus of King Edward Medical University at Muridke-Narowal Road in Knowledge City Sheikhupura (PCII) at the cost of Rs175.507m; construction of roads in PKLI & RI Centre Lahore at the cost of Rs253.650m; upgradation of Cardiology Services at PIC Lahore at the cost of Rs158.120m;and construction/expansion of 150 bed wards (new block) for provision of subspecialist services at Children Hospital Complex,Multan, worthRs1,877.352m.

Other schemes were completion of DHQ building for conversion into Kidney Centre, Multan, at the cost of Rs312.366m; widening/improvement of road from Kandaywala Bridge to Derawar Fort (all three sections) Bahawalpur (revised) at the cost of Rs232.141m; hiring of transaction adviser for (PC-H), construction of restaurant, gymnasium, swimming pool, 3-D cinema, community hall, mini zoo etc. in Shahbaz Sharif Park (City Park), Gujrat, under public-private partnership (PPP) mode and development of Joyland in Shahbaz Sharif Park (City Park), Gujrat under PPP mode at the cost of Rs19.825m; widening/improvement of 26.5-km road from Kot Nainan to Sukho Chak, Narowal, to the tune of Rs446.056m; land acquisition for Jhang-Chiniot Road from mile No. 52 to 53.40 in Chiniot district at the cost of Rs735.489m; construction of 12.18-1(m road from Bhatiot to Boota Village, Attock, (revised) at the cost of Rs260.785m; widening/improvement of 2-km Lahore-Sargodha-MianwaliBannu Road, 7.7-km Jinnah Barrage Link Road, Mianwali, (revised) at the cost of Rs2,042.302m; and widening/ improvement of 26-km Mian Pakhi Rat t a Tibba via Pakhi Mor (DM Road), Vehari, at the cost of Rs307.651m.

Widening and rehabilitation of Lahore-Kasur-Khudian-DepalpurPakpattan-Vehari Road section Gagooto Burewala from km No. 536.93 to 553.23 km at the cost of Rs451.774m; widening/improvement of 21-km Bosan Road (from BZU to Adda Sahi Chawan), Multan, worth Rs548.857m; widening and rehabilitation of 2.2-km road from Mumtazabad Railway Overhead Bridge Bahawalpur Bypass Multan (section Government College of Technology Multan to Bahawalpur Bypass Multan) at the cost of Rs339.923m; construction of 2-km dual carriageway from Ganaish Wah Canal to Katchery Chowk in Muzaffargarh city at the cost of Rs273.523m; and flood protection of Kamoke and adjoining areas (revised) to the tune of Rs2,203.088 m.

Concrete side protection and concrete lining of 1L Disty Pakpattan (revised) at the cost of Rs221.219m; management of hill torrent/flood protection of Rajanpur district (Phase-I) at the cost of Rs1,718.886m; rehabilitation of Malik Branch and Gajjiani Disty Bahawalnagar (revised) worth Rs748.700m; desilting and strengthening banks of drains, construction of flood bund along drains and closing/ strengthening breaches along nullahs at the cost of Rs613.501m; concrete side protection of Rakh Disty, Kasur, at the cost of Rs315.970m; engineering design of Jalalpur Irrigation Project (PC-II) at the cost of Rs695.960m; rehabilitation of Muridke Branch System, Sheikhupura, (revised) at the cost of Rs749.252m and flood protection of Sialkot against Aik and Palkhu nullahs, Sialkot, worth Rs4,008.51m are other schemes.
