Teachers want FIRs registered against harassers

By Our Correspondent 2015-06-04
MARDAN: The Schools Officers Association and All Education Employees Coordination on Wednesday demanded of the government to register FIRs against all those political activists, who tortured or harassed male and female teachers during the local body election duty.

The demand was made during an emergency meeting of both the teachers` bodies here at the Government Centennial Model School.

The meeting was chaired by Principal Inayat Ali Shah and attended by representatives of teachers.

The participants condemned violence and harassment against male and female teachers during the May 30 local government elections in the province.

They also declared the police`s action against teachers terrorism and an `open`interference in the affairs of the state.

The participants alleged that through a well-planned and organised conspiracy, teachers were disgraced and trashed by political leaders and workers during the local body elections in the province.

They said the security provided to them on the election day was nothing as the number of security personnel was so small that they were unable to control the mob.

The participants, however, demanded that the PTI government take immediate action against those involved in violence againstteachers.

They said they would finalise future course of action if the government didn`t meet their demands.
