TAXILA: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has failed to clear rainwater from most of the roads and streets of the residential and commercial areas even after severalhours afterrain.

During a survey conducted by this reporter on Monday, it was observed that the rain has created a mess to the negligence of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA).

Different roads have been submerged in sewage mixed rainwater. Besides, heaps of garbage at every nook and corner have added to the miseries of the residents, motorcyclists and pedestrians.

Faisal Shaheed Road, Taxila Chowlc Sher Shah Suri Road, Railway Road, Thatta Khalil Road, HMC Road and Museum Road as well as surrounding residential, industrial and commercial areas have submerged in four to five feet water after the recent monsoon rains.

Residents of the area say after every rainfall and even af ter short showers these roads turn into the ponds causing problems to the commuters especially those traveling in public transport, motorcyclesand rickshaws.

Faisal Shaheed road which connects the city with other areas is full of potholes.

The road under overhead bridge becomes a nuisance for the people as sewage mixed rainwater in the middle of the road has made it impassable especially for the pedestrians.

Similarly, Railway Road in front of post office is a picture of the tehsil municipal administration apathy as knee deep water playing havoc with the people as well as commuters.

Link road which connects Railway Road to Museum Road is filled with rainwater and sewage as drainage system of the area has collapsed due to lack of proper maintenance.

The TMA authorities have failed to address public problems for proper maintenance of the road. Many vehicles break down in the middle of the road due to water accumulated in the middle of the road playing havoc with them.
