Three held for overcharging at Shalamar Gardens` parking

LAHORE: A team of the City District Government of Lahore on Monday raided the Shalamar Gardens Parking Stand over a public complaint against overcharging on parking fee, held the contractor and his two workers for the crime and handed them over to police.

A CDGL spokesman said the team also seized the fake parking slips from the contractor, Munir Ijaz, and his workers,Asif Ali andMuhammad Jameel. A case has also been registered against the suspects.

Meanwhile, various price controlmagistrates had 56 shopkeepers arrested for overcharging in the open markets of the city besides imposing Rs56,000 fine on others.

DENGUE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has completed a survey of parl(s and greenbelts and launched an awareness drive on dengue.

A standard operating procedure has alsobeenissuedforthe ofñeials for the dengue spray and larva siding, said a spokesman.

Under the plan, water in all lakes of the parks, including Gulshan-iIqbal and Racecourse Park, has also been removed or being replenished all the time to avert breeding of den-gue larvae.

`All non-functional taps in the parks have also been replaced with new ones to avoid leakage of water, the spokesman said, adding that the PHA staff had also been asked to ensure cleanliness in parks and greenbelts with the help of the Lahore Waste Management Company.

PFA: Commissioner Abdullah Sumbal, presiding over a meeting, said the divisional administration would facilitate the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in implementing a pilot project to ensure health and hygiene in eight selected bazaars of four towns.
