Two men gunned down in Kohat

KOHAT: Two men were gunned down allegedly by hired assassins in Kalo Chinna Banda here on Monday, police claimed.

Officials at the Riaz Mohammad Shaheed police station said the victims, Jehanzeb and Sham ul Haq, were killed by professional killers. The bodies were found dumped in fields.

They were shifted to the KDA divisional headquarters hospital for autopsy and then handed over to relatives.

Police registered a case and began investigations.

ROAD PROJECTS: The continuous monsoon rains are hampering the start of the over Rs1.6 billion road projects in the city to rid the commuters of bumpy drives.

Kohat deputy commissioner Kamran Afridi said all the road projects were included in the current year`s ADP. He said Rs1.1 billion had been set aside for the longest route starting from Gulshanabad to Bannu road and up to the Kohat University of Science and Technology. He said the roadwould be constructed by the Frontier Highway Authority which would be completed by the end of 2016. Similarly, construction of a flyover was also under consideration on the same route, he added.

Mr Afridi said work had been started on Jungle Khel road up to the MP Gate at a cost of Rs260 million. He said proper drainage system would be constructed along the road.

The deputy commissioner said the dual carriageway from MP Gate to Gulshanabad would be widened to ease trafñc congestion. He said the project would be completed by communication and works department.

He said Rs100 million had been earmarked for the Dhodha road which provided a short route to the Indus Highway from the heart of the city.

He said Rs200 million had been set aside to start work on the roads linking villages in the KP-38 constituency.

He said to solve the traffic congestion on the portion of the road from KDA Township to Bannu Gate a flyover from Ayub Chowk to PAF cinema would be constructed.
