Rs7.34 billion budget of Lower Dir presented

TIMERGARA: Lower Dir district nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan on Thursday presented Rs7.34 billion budget of the district council for the fiscal year 2017-18. All the councillors attended the council meeting, which was chaired by convener Abdul Rashid.

Presenting the budget, the nazim said that Rs6.33 million would be spent on salaries of government employees and Rs1.05 billion on development projects. He said that finance minister Muzaffar Said had approved Rs13.1 million while the district would get Rs278.6 million from the annual development programme. He said that the district would generate Rs10.9 million from the district tax.

The nazim said that Rs55.7 had been allocated for the education sector, Rs27.8 million for health and Rs 47.1 million for agriculture, women development, sports and youth. Rs153.2 million has been set aside as discretionary funds of the nazim.

The nazim also presented revised budget of Rs7.61 billion budget for the year 201617. The chair announced that debate on budget would start from Monday next.

PPP MASS CONTACT: Senator Rubina Khalid of Pakistan Peoples Party said on Thursday that her party would not make an electoral alliance with any other party in the 2018 general election.

Flanked by MPA Nighat Orakzai and other women leaders, she told mediapersons in Timergara that her party had decided to launch mass contact campaign from Chitral. She said that partychairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also wanted to visit Chitral soon.

Nighat Orakzai said that her party would never support toppling of any democratic government whether in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or at the federal level. `We will not be part to any move to topple the KP government,` she said.

GOVT TO COMPLETE TERM: Khyber Pal(htunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said on Thursday that his party`s government would complete its term. He said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf would again form its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and also in centre.

He was addressing a party workers convention here at Timergara. Mr Qaiser dispelled the impression that the ouster of Nawaz Sharif as prime minister would affect the China-Pakistan Economic Corridors project and said that everyone in this country was guardian of CPEC.

He said that CPEC was the continuation of Gwadar Port initiated by former president Asif Ali Zardari.

He criticised PML-N for plotting character assassination of PTI chief Imran Khan, alleging that the script was written and directed by party`s provincial president Amir Muqam.

KILLED: A man identified as Fazal Tawab, a resident of Kitiari, was killed by unknown persons at Asbanr Mela Gah on Wednesday night, police said.

They said that Mr Tawab had gone to the nearby hill three days ago for hunting, but did not return. His relatives said the killers had also taken away his gun and cash.

Ouch police have registered the case.
