LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority teams on Thursday sealed various eateries, restaurants and food production units besides imposing fine on others in various parts of the city.

A team headed by PFA Director (operations) Ms Ayesha Mumtaz in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town sealed Best Western Hotel`s Kitchen. It also sealed two canteens of Lahore College for Women University (Jail Road).ItimposedfineonMcDonald Jail Road branch.

The PFA had earlier sealed cafeteria of the Kinnaird College on Wednesday.

The Ravi Town team sealed Yasir Traders Murabba-Jaat, Rafique Murabba-Jaat, FayyazPaitha Unit and Yaseen Paitha unit in Saddat Colony area of Badami Bagh.

Nishtar Town team sealed Bismillah Hotel and Bismillah Hajveri hotel in Asif Town (Ferozepur road), Khans Super Store in Dallu Khurd area and Mehria Dahi Bhallay and Fruit Chaat.

In Wagah Town, the team sealed Shah-G store in ShareefPura and Muzzamil Kiryana store. In Shalimar Town, the team sealed Khoy Waly Chany, Sher Shah Road.

Gulberg Town team sealed Shinghai restaurant in Faisal Town, Ice Land Juice at Husain Chowk (Gulberg) and imposed fine on FC College cafeteria and China Town Restaurant on Mehmood Kasuri Road.

In Samanabad, the team sealed Dreamland Marriage Hall,Wedding Marriage Hall at Poonch Road and got their owners arrested for interfering in state affairs.

It also imposed fine on the Standard College`s canteen. The Iqbal Town team also imposed fine on Zafar Hotel on Raiwind Road.

Meanwhile, the PFA has started process of categorisation of food outlets and hotel owners/managers can see the criteria at the website www.punjabfoodauthority.gov.pk.

MINISTER: The Punjab Food Authority acts on hard facts, not fiction, as being portrayed by some vested interests.

Provincial food minister Bilal Yasin said while addressing a press conference here on Thursday.

Flanked by PFA Director General Sajid Mahmood Chohan and Operations Director Aysha Mumtaz, the minister said theauthority had collected 54,000 samples during thelast45 days,lodged 1,500 FIRs, collected Rs12.70 million fine and got 450 violators arrested.

`The campaign against adulteration has been launched on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif`s order and will only gather momentum in the days to come,` he said.

District and divisional teams have already been formed to expand the campaign to the entire province.

Mr Yasin said details about PFA raids were being uploaded on social media as well to keep the record straight.

He said the authority was meant to ensure provision of qualityfood, without favour to anyone. The campaign would continue, come what may, he warned.
