tudents at the Riphah University of Media Sciences launched a campaign for raising awareness about climate change with the slogan `Wake up to build Pakistan`.
They held a rally on campus to highlight those areas of the country where awareness of climate change and its effects was needed the most.
According to a spokesperson for the varsity, the campaign is part of the UN`s three day drive for climate change, which started from November 27.
Participants of the rally called for the government and the public to play their role in minimising the impact of global warming.
In its last report, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned that in the coming few years, the change will be felt even more in South Asia. It said Pakistan is already facing the impacts of the changed climate with rises in sea level, floods, drought and the ever decreasing forest cover.
