LAHORE: The 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by two suspects, said a report prepared by an inquiry team.

The preliminary investigation and medical examinations, supervised by the team, reached the conclusion that the victim was assaulte dby prime suspect, PML-N Punjab Youth Wing additional secretary general Adnan Sanaullah, and another of his accomplices who was yet to be identified, a source privy to the findings told Dawn on Monday.

He said according to findings, other seven suspects arrested by police, had nothing to do with the girl and they were likely to be cleared in a couple of days.

A senior official, on condition of anonymity, said the DNA report issued by the Punjab Forensic Agency revealed the girl was not gang-raped and that she was only`sodomised` by Adnan while semen samples of another unidentified suspect were also found on the victim`s clothes.

He said the girl was invited by the suspect, who had acquaintance with her, to the hotel on The Mall to celebrate her birthday. The girl also received a gift from Adnan.

The official said the investigations further revealed that Adnan had first served intoxicants to the girl in a drink and forcibly assaulted her. The accused later called the girl`s mother to take her away from the hotel.

The official said the otherarrested suspects were living in other rooms and they did not have any connection with Adnan. He said the samples which were taken from the girl`s clothes by forensic science agency did not match with the seven other arrestedsuspects.

He said DNA report only confirmed the involvement of Adnan and one other in the case.

The official said the reports had been submitted before Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said it was also revealed that the girl had visited the hotel on invitation from the suspect after permission from her family members.
