Bahria, Nust hold convocations

ahria University and the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) hosted convocation ceremonies.

Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Balighur Rehman was the chief guest at Bahria University`s 17th convocation on Wednesday while former finance minister Dr Salman Shah was the chief guest at the third convocation of the Nust School of Social Sciences and Humanities on Thursday.

Speaking at the event on Wednesday, the education minister congratulated the graduating students. `You must equip yourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to be leaders of the world, making it a better place,` he said.

Speaking at Nust where 169 undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded degrees, the former finance minister said the social sciences graduates must put efforts to establish a mechanism for the equal distribution of resources and better governance systems in Pakistan.

Nust Rector retired Lt Gen Naweed Zaman encouraged students to be just in their dealings, especially when they find themselves in leadership roles.

The chief guest also awarded eight President`s Gold Medals and three Chancellor`s Silver Medals to students for outstanding academic achievement. The best teacher award was given to Dr Zafar Mehmood, who heads the research department and the department of development studies.
