Teachers` week-long protest disrupts classes

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Academic activities at the Higher Secondary School of Mana Ahmedani have been disrupted for the last more than one week due to boycott by teachers over the attitude of the principal.

Itislearntthattheintervention of senior education officers has failed to bring the teachers back to work.

Giving background of the strike, a teacher alleged that Principal Fayyaz Khan Buzdar had forced the academics to vote for a group of his liking in the election of union. As the teachers refused to succumb topressure, he said, the principal started humiliating the staff forcing them to boycott classes.

Chief ExecutiveOfficer(Education) Abdul Ghaffar Langah and District Officer Education Shaukat Sherwani tried their best to solve the issue for the sake of students but the teachers have not resumed work.

The CEO constituted a three-member committee of teachers to hold an inquiry and help solve the issue.

STUDENTS` GRIPE: Students of GhaziUniversity on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against theCivil Lines police for their failure to recover the motorcycle which was stolen at the Police Lines gate when students visited the place for test and interview for a job in the Counter-Terrorism Department.

Score of students of the university led by their district youth member of district council, Tahir Buzdar, demonstrated ineptness of police.

Muhammad Kashif told Dawn that despite having record of the CCTV, the Civil Lines police had failed to recover the two-wheeler. Correspondent
