KP governor calls for unity to defeat terrorism

PARACHINAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor IqbalZafarJhagrahassaid `we can get rid of the curse of terrorism by maintaining complete unity in our ranks` He was addressing tribal people at a ceremony held in Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency, for distribution of compensation cheques to heirs of victims of twin blasts that occurredinParachinarjust ahead of Eidul Fitr.
The state, the governor said, was responsible for protecting the lives and properties of people and the present government was very much fulfilling its responsibilities in this respect. `The elements involved in acts of terrorism will be brought to justice,` he said.
Mr Jhagra delivered cheques for Rs1 million to the heirs of each martyr and Rs0.5m to each injured. Members of par-liament from Kurram Agency, senior civil and military officials, tribal elders and close relatives of the martyrs were present on the occasion.
Expressing his deep sympathies with members of bereaved families, the governor said that monetary support could never be an alternative to pre-cious lives. However, he added, it was just a token of the deeply felt grief. The terrorists, Mr Jhagra added, were out to deter the national unity and integrity but they could never succeed.
He said that all-out efforts were being made to ensure security and stability in the region.
