PESHAWAR: All Fata Students Forum has announced that it will hold a rally in Islamabad on Aug 11 against the federal government for using delaying tactics in implementation of the Fata reforms.
Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Friday, the forum chairman Farhad Ali said that the tribal youth from all parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas would participate in the protest procession which would start from the National Press Club, Islamabad, and observe a sit-in at the D-Chowk near the Parliament House.
He urged the leaders and workers of political parties and members of civil society to participate in the rally.
He said that the nation was preparing for celebrations of the 70th Independence Day, but the tribal people were still living like slaves despite rendering sacrifices for their motherland.
Accompanied by the forum`s vice-chairman Irshad Khan Safi, Peshawarpresident Alamgir Haider and others, Mr All said that the federal government was not sincere about reforms in Fata.
He said that the tribal people would remain deprived of fundamental rights in the presence of Frontier Crimes Regulation.
He regretted that the rights organisations and political parties had turned deaf ears towards violations of fundamental rights in the tribal areas.
`We want to free the tribal people from the clutches of FCR so they could get their constitutional, political and social rights,` he said, adding that being citizens of this country they had the right to get the best education and health facilities.
Mr Ali said that some people were creating hurdles to implementation of the reforms package, which was tantamount to keeping the tribal people deprived of their due rights and blocking the way of development.
He castigated the leaders of political parties for just scoring points on the issue and not making any efforts to bring changes in the tribal region.
