Man, 3 children die on road

CHAKWAL: An armyman and his three children lost their lives while his wife sustained injuries in a traffic accident on Monday night.

Police said Waqar Hussain, 40, a serving army official, and resident of Maingan village, had come to the Chakwal city for shopping along with his wife and three children on Monday evening.

When the family was returning to their village, their motorbike rammed into a tractor-trolley on the Talagang Road near the Murid village. As a result, Waqar, his two daughters Manahil, 7, and Mehvish, 5, and son Mohammad Tamseel, 3, died on the spot. Waqar`s wife Nighat Yasmeen was injured.

The bodies and the injured Yasmeen were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal from where the injured was referred to Rawalpindi even though she had received minor injuries and was quite stable. As the injured reached Rawalpindi, she was sent back to Chal(wal after doctors declared her condition out of danger,` Malik Adnan, a local leader of the PML-N, in the Maingan village told Dawn.

Zaraat Baloch, the SHO of Saddar police, said the accident occurred due to the negligence of the driver of the tractor-trolley as there were neither rearlightsnorrenectors on the trolley.

He said the driver of the tractor-trolley had been arrested and identified as Noor Mohammad, a resident of Janwal Town in the Chakwal city.
